Winklevoss Twins Want to Sue Facebook Again

$65 million isn’t enough! The Winklevoss Twins want to sue Facebook for even more money. They made a firm agreement to accept the $65 million a few years back and be on their way. But now they’ve changed their mind and want to cancel the agreement. Isn’t it a bit unseemly, even un-gentlemanly to break one’s word Misters Winklevoss? If this is all about honor, aren’t you behaving without honor?

These boys better how they never face a jury. Two incredibly rich, tall, good-looking guys who grew up in Greenwich and get to spend their time being medal-winning Olympic atheltes dont elicit much sympathy, even if they do have a good point or tow.

Is the focus On Facebook Fans a Waste of Time?

Many big companies are concluding it’s a waste of time to go after raw big numbers of Facebook fans. I agree. It’s better to engage 10,000 fans on a regular basis and have real conversations with them than it is to have a million fans who never come back a second time.

AdAge looks at how major companies are trying to build more meaningful fan pages here.

The Next Big Media Form After The Newspaper will Be…Nothing

Nothing in the sense of a distinct new format like an iPad ap. Instead, the focus is on content, audio video or text. People in the media business, myself included, have to focus on creating compelling content that people want, not on finding a new container.

Old People Now Using Social Media Almost as Much as the Young

Social media has now morphed from the “new high technology” thingy that you people like to dabble with in order to feel cool to simply “normal.” It’s become normal to use social media in the way it’s been normal to use a cell phone the last 10 years and normal to use a regular phone for 50 years before that.

The other trend? Blogging, at least at stand alone blogging sites, is dropping among the young.

Cher Lloyd is Most Talked About New Celebrity of the Year

This is according to Perez Hilton based on social media mentions and presence. I have to confess I didn’t know who Cher Lloyd was. I gather she can sing, and the one photo I saw of her she was quite pretty. What do you think? Does she have something special to make her have a long and a varied career? Let me know what you think. Why Perez Hilton TV is the Future of Television

Take a look at a recent episode of Perez Hilton TV. Whether you care about celebrities and Hollywood Gossip is irrelevant. The key thing is that he has a tiny studio, a simple two camera shoot, a minimum of editing, a simple graphic backdrop and a one guest, one-host format. And he is leveraging his existing traffic from his blog consisting of text and pictures to his newer medium of video. This is the future, regardless of your industry or niche.

Neil Patrick Harris Calls Actor ‘A D-Bag’ on Twitter

Harris has a good reputation in Hollywood, so I don’t think this minor Twitter fracas will cause him long-term damage. But it does show him and everyone else that there is a difference between what you say around a bar or dinner table with friends and family is not always the best thing to say to the whole world via Twitter.
Harris was criticizing an actor who was supposed to be on Harris’ sitcom. Turns out the actor in question had health problems. Now Harris looks like a minor chump.

Cartoon Characters are being used frequently as Facebook Profile Photos

This is a bad idea for any adult who is trying to build a personal brand within an industry. But it’s also a dumb idea for kids. If you met that cute boy or girl at a party 3 nights ago, and they met 5 other people that night, how will they remember who you are when you connect on Facebook? A simple head shot is still best for people of any age. More at ABC.
