Sarah Palin to Survey Her Future Domain

Sarah Palin is hitting the road to campaign for big sales of her new book “America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag.” I have to wonder though is she hitting the road to drum up big sales for her book or to lay the groundwork for a potential presidential run in 2012. The list of cities that she is hitting are heavy on republican red and includes two spots in Iowa.

I think this is a great move by her and her political team as well as her publisher. She gets the dual publicity of promoting her book as well as keeping her name right in the forefront of everyone’s mind as a political candidate. Add in the fact that her new TLC show will be debuting this week and you have a multimedia barrage of Palin without her having to expend any political capitol. Read the rest of this entry »

So what is the message from the voters and the winning candidates in the 2010 election?

  1. We want change.
  2. We want to cut government spending (except for defense, social security, Medicare, Medicaid and 93% of the Federal budget).
  3. We want to cut taxes and balance the budget, but the budget thing, not really.
  4. ObamaCare needs to be repealed and don’t let the government meddle with Medicare and Medicaid.
  5. Career politicians like Nancy Pelosi are really, really bad, compared to career politicians like John Boehner.
  6. I want my taxes to go down, the budget deficit to go down, and the particular government programs I use and enjoy to stay the same or increase.
  7. The #1 issue is to improve the economy, so we need new public officials who will be less activist when it comes to trying to help the economy.

Got it?

Obama Speaks to Half-Empty Coliseum in Ohio

That headline is and should be the worry of every speaker and conference organizer. It’s far better to have a small room and have stand room only or to expect 200 people and only put out 150 chairs and then add chairs when you need them. There is a crowd psychology that is in play for your audience and the news media. If you deliver 200 people for a room that holds 150, you will be described as wildly charismatic. However, if you deliver 50,000 people it a stadium that holds 100,000 then you will be considered a boring failure. If you are a coordinating a venue for a political speaker or any other speaker, you must factor in the expectations game into every decision you make.

Sound bite of the week “the son of the devil’s spawn.”

Sound bite of the week goes to Rep Eric Massa for calling White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel “the son of the devil’s spawn.” Wow! if there is a newspaper or website editor or talk show producer who can pass up a juicy quote like this, I’d love to meet him or her.
