Kanye West is booed at Thanksgiving Day parade – the Price to pay for bad Reputation Management

Kanye may be a great musician, but between obnoxious behavior at awards shows, and not showing up for media interviews and complaining about the popular and fair Matt Lauer, West has made himself a wildly unlikeable character. If you don’t believe me, watch this video and you can see and hear people booing him.

Kanye West is a Big Baby – media training the wrong way

The New York Times reports that Kanye West was media trained last week by a coach from Rubenstein PR (disclosure, I have been hired in the past to media train clients of Rubenstein, though Kanye is not my client). After deciding not to do an interview with the Today Show, Kanye then decided he would do it. And then he promptly fell apart just because Matt Lauer showed him footage of himself making comments about George Bush.

Now if you haven’t watched any TV since the 1957 season of “Meet the Press” this will come as a shock to you, but occasionally, reporters will show a guest news footage of something interesting, often the interviewee himself and ask for a reaction. It’s considered fair game and not exactly hoping out of the bushes gotcha journalism.

Bush reveals that being called a “racist” by Kanye West was the “worst” moment of his Presidency

Really??? The worst? Worse than having to call parents of soldiers who died? Worse than Katrina? I thought that caring about what those Hollywood celebrities like Kanye think was what was wrong with the LIBERAL elites, not just-folks George W. Bush. Anyway, team George Bush is doing a great job of keeping him in the news and promoting his new book. They put out enough drips and drabs of news through leaks and interviews to guarantee massive sales. (the publishers challenge is even greater, given the author’s well-known disdain for books and self-reflection) More here on the so-called worst incident of Bush’s Presidency.

The many faces of Kanye West. Which one is sincere?

by Mike Bako
Kanye West will return to the scene of the crime next week when he makes an appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards. The crime committed was not violent and punishable by jail but rather one self inflicted and born of West’s gigantic ego.
At last years awards show West jumped on stage and grabbed the microphone from award winner Taylor Swift to ramble on about how singer Beyonce should have won the award for best female video and not Swift. It was an act that received such widespread rebuke that West has not really been seen or heard from in public for close to a year. Until now.
In a recent series of Tweets to his followers West said that he has written a song for Swift in the hopes that she accepts his apology. Whether she does or does not is up to Swift and undoubtedly her handlers. It will probably make for great PR for not only MTV but also Swift and low and behold Kanye has a new album coming up in the Fall so it will play great with an audience that has turned on him to a certain degree.

Short takes on Rand Paul, Steven Slater, Kanye West, and Charlie Rangel

Short takes – sound bites from TJ

Kanye West has been invited back to the MTV Video Music Awards show. Prediction: he won’t be grabbing the mic from Taylor Swift or anyone else this year. In fact, there may be a few sketches where other people grab the mic out of his had repeatedly. It will help his image if he went along with the skit good-naturedly.

Rand Paul finally denied the charges that he kidnapped a woman while he was in college. He  went 24 hours before making the denial—a major strategic blunder. Worse, his apology seemed weasily because he conflated the charges that he had been abducted by aliens with the charges that he had kidnapped a woman and said that “they” were untrue. This was either a sloppy apology or he really isn’t denying the kidnapping charges. Expect this issue to get further play in the campaign.
