Postscript to Network Solutions Fiasco

As of 7:30 PM, our PitchingWell.com website hosted on Network Solutions was finally up and running again. See the two previous blog mentions to get the history on this problem.

On the one hand, I’m glad Network solutions finally got our site back. But on the other hand, I still think it’s reprehensible that a company as big and ostensibly as reputable as Network Solutions performs so dismally during a crisis. The Network Solutions blog still says that everything is OK as of 10:44 AM this morning, a demonstrable falsehood. Yes, I finally got them to take my problem seriously. But not every small business customer can afford to launch a multimedia/social media/video jihad against Network Solutions to get their attention as I did. I have delivered a full onslaught of videos, Tweets, and blog posts denouncing Network Solutions for their deceptive practices, and still, they refuse to make a mention of any problems on their blog today or on their Facebook page or any or social media channel.

Public speaking moment of the day: LeBron James confronts his heckler in Detroit

by Mike Bako -At this point in his career Lebron James has heard it all from opposing fans. The boos, the cheers, the cursing and through it all he has continuously preformed at a high level. At times it almost seemed like he used it as fuel to reach even greater heights.

So why did he decide to verbally confront a fan in Detroit over heckling that he was receiving? It certainly was not the first time he had heard it from the Detroit crowd. What was different this time was that his small children were nearby and he did not want them hearing the curses coming out of the fans mouth.

NY Times Op-Ed by ElBaradei: The Next Step for Egypt’s Opposition

Mohamed ElBaradei’s column in Today’s New York Times reveals much about who he is. The fact that at a time when he is, presumably, very busy, he takes the time to reach out to the West in general and the United States in particular, is significant. ElBaradei cares about the international community’s opinion and specifically the United States view toward Egypt. He wants to have good relations with us.

ElBaradei also does a masterful job of oh-so-gently chastising the United States for not being stronger and earlier supporters of the Egyptian opposition and coming out against Mubarak. After a lifetime work in high level diplomatic circles, ElBaradei knows the best way to convince someone to change is to focus on their own self-interest and to cite their own values in defense of that policy. ElBaradei very diplomatically makes the case that the US is spending a fortune trying to create democracy around the world and here is a case where it’s just happenings, so why are we jumping up and down helping them?

Dick Cheney Gets Booed and Called a Draft Dodger at CPAC Convention

One of the interesting things about public speaking is the unpredictability of the audience. You are never 100% certain what you will get.

At first blush, Dickey Cheney speaking to a group of conservatives at a Washington conference should be as friendly as a high school 50-year reunion.
