That is the debate on the front page of the New York Times today. Is it a fair comparison?
Yes, to the extent that, like Murrow and eventually Cronkite, Stewart is the only liberal media figure able to sell liberal ideas to the mainstream public.
Olbermann, Maddow and other cable talking heads don’t seem to be able to reach young people or independents the way Stewart can; that’s why he has political influence and they don’t.
Think Hillary Clinton is the only one who should be worried about leaks on the Internet?

The merry-go-round of anchors and faces on CBS’ The Early Show will continue at the start of 2011 with the dumping of Harry Smith, Maggie Rodriguez and weatherman Dave Price. The Early Show has been mired in 3rd place behind the Today Show and GMA for so long that it makes you wonder what another anchor shake up will actually accomplish.
