Cover FaceWhat do you do if you have an extreme case of public speaking Heebie-Jeebies? What if you are way beyond the normal fear level when it comes to speaking in public or in front of a TV camera? Sure, other people joke abut preferring root canal or being in a casket over giving a public speech, but you REALLY MEAN IT.

Parker-Spitzer on Deathwatch?

CNN’s Parker-Spitzer is continuing to get more and more media attention. Unfortunately is all about dissention on the set and low ratings—not exactly helpful. As I mentioned in a review of the first show, Parker doesn’t say or do much. And Spitzer is a strong and forceful liberal intellectual who is widely appealing to the 20,000 people who read Slate.com on a daily basis. Speaking of slate, Parker-Spitzer should consider moving to an online environment for Slate once they get cancelled by CNN. More at the New York Times.

Public Speaking blunder of the Day: KSU instructor arrested for allegedly exposing self in class

I’ve seen some odd ways for speakers to captivate the attention of an audience, but this takes the cake. This teacher took his clothes off in front of the class, and no, it wasn’t a modern art class—it was an accounting class! Something tells me the tenure committee won’t be impressed. Gordon Ramsey is being sued $1 million for cancelling a speaking tour

I don’t know if Ramsey has a good reason or not, but setting up a major speaking tour is extraordinarily complicated, given all the logistics, publicity, and arrangements that have to take place. TV and film stars often seem to think that giving a speech is such an informal affair that it’s like raising your hand at a script reading. No; it’s a bigger deal than that. If Ramsey did violate the contact, he should compensate the organizers to make up for their losses, which were presumably considerable.

Woman Loses train of thought asking Question Live on C-SPAN

Watch the video here at 1:21:50. You have to feel sorry for this woman losing her train of thought. But she does make many errors compounding her problem. 1. She tells us she lost her train of thought. 2. She apologizes. 3. She searches for the perfect word. 4. She tells us she’s not good at public speaking. It is far better to simply pause for a second and then use the simplest word possible when asking a question or speaking. Never apologize, just pause and carry on. Never tell people you are no good; force them to figure it out.

The King’s Speech is a virtual lock for a basketful of Oscar Gold – review

I saw the King’s Speech last night and it lives up to the hype. It is the best movie of the year, and I’m not just saying that because it’s the only movie in 40 years to make the speech coach the hero. If you can find anyone to bet against Colin Firth for Oscar’s Best Actor, bet every penny you have. You will make a fortune. Watch more of the movie here at Youtube.

15% Of Incoming Members Of Congress Plan To Sleep In Offices?

On the one hand, incoming GOP members who plan on sleeping in their offices can earn a lot of good pr because this makes them look frugal and as though they are working 24/7.

But on the other hand, they run the risk of staffers walking in on them in the morning when the Reps are still in their bathrobe. Take it from me (I know from personal experience), workers do not particularly enjoy this moment.
Additionally, a lot of taxpayers who, on average make $50,000 per household, can’t figure out why a congressman can’t afford a simple apartment a few blocks from the Capital, given that members make $174,00 per year!

Could Hillary Clinton be the first Victim of Wikileaks?

Jack Schafer at Slate makes the case that Hillary Clinton is going to be seriously damaged as Secretary of state, given revelations that she authorized spying on diplomats from other countries. Yes, this sort of thing has long gone on, but it isn’t talked about or openly acknowledge. Now, there is no way of hiding it. Like it or not, part of diplomacy is telling lies. Now, that’s no longer an option for Clinton. Prediction: Hillary Clinton gets promoted to Secretary of Defense when Gates retires early next year.

Arizona Quarterback Flips Out On Reporter During Post-Game Press Conference

    by Mike Bako
Video does not lie and what it told us about Arizona Cardinals quarterback Derek Anderson was that he was laughing on the sidelines of an embarrassing 27-6 loss to the San Fransisco 49ers last night. Why then did Anderson get so upset when reporters questioned him about it after the game? Getting so upset that he stormed off from the press conference.
Here’s the reality. Anderson was laughing during the game, so he was lying after it. Getting pissed and talking loudly and walking off doesn’t change that fact.
