Gore Compares Climate Change to Civil Rights Fight. Let The Misquoting Begin?

Will Al Gore’s history of being misquoted continue after his latest comments comparing deniers of climate change with 20th century racists?

If you examine his comments ranging from the claims that he said he “invented” the Internet to the fact that he proclaimed that he was part of the inspiration for the book, Love Story, you will see a constant pattern of Gore being one of the most misquoted politicians of the last two decades.

The Daily Show is Now the Most Watched Late Night Program Among Young People

What is the lesson here? If you want to communicate to young people you must infuse entertainment into your substance. It doesn’t matter if you are giving a new business pitch or a quarterly sales presentation, you need to engage your audience with more than just straight forward facts.

PR Blunder of the Day—Mike Huckabee Says Obama “grew up in Kenya”

Huh? Huckabee isn’t known for saying incredibly stupid things that can easily be proven factually incorrect later. Yesterday, Huckabee had an aide put out a statement that the Huck had “misspoken” and had meant to say Indonesia.

Hmmm…is this just an attempt to court the birther vote?

Glenn Beck Apologizes for Remarks About Reform Judaism

Glenn Beck has really been taken to task over his remarks about Reform Judaism being similar to radicalized Islam and how both are ostensibly based on politics. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell devoted a huge segment on-air to parsing Beck’s apology and giving it a very poor grade.

So how did Beck do?

Don Rumsfeld Appears on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

Don Rumsfeld may or may not be your favorite Secretary of Defense, but he certainly is no media coward.

Rumsfeld had a no-holds-barred interview with Jon Stewart last night and it made for intriguing TV. A lot of political and business figures prefer to go on only “friendly” shows with sympathetic interviewers. Rumsfeld is smarter; he knows that if want to reach the largest audience possible, you do every interview, especially with people who hate and despise you.

Larry King to Tour the US Giving One-man Show

Larry King is back in the limelight. First, it was announced that Piers Morgan will interview him during the old Larry King timeslot. Now, it’s announced King is having a one one-man show.

Tenure might not be popular for school teachers and other civil servants. But celebrities who get to a certain point of multi-decade fame do earn a sort of fame tenure that allows them to work and make money for as long as they can get out of bed.

FORBES.com: Is Mike Huckabee Already Holding the Public Office He Desires?

Few people realize how close former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee came to winning the SC primary in 2008, and therefore, how close he came to winning the GOP nomination that year. I thought he was a compelling communicator then and still do. Read more of TJ’s analysis at FORBES.com

Will Michael Medved be banned from conservative talk radio after making his politically incorrect statement that Obama is NOT deliberately trying to destroy America?

Michael Medved has softened is in old age. Medved was more than happy to traffic in nastiness when the Clinton’s were in the White House. But now that Obama is running things, Medved has become kinder and gentler.

He chastises his colleagues on the right for constantly saying idiotic things like Obama is deliberately destroying America. Medved points out, quite rightly, that this makes Obama look good not only to Democrats, but to moderates and independents, because the charges are so outrageous that they discredit all criticism of Obama.

Former Palin Aide Writes Expose on Palin

Something tells me this book is going to sell more than a few copies. A top former aide has written a scathing book about Palin. In the book, he confirms pretty much everything her worst detractors have claimed for years.

The book alleges she is filled with bitter, petty feuds. She is devious and flagrantly breaks the law. It will be interesting to see how Team Palin spins this book as yet another attack by the so-called Liberal media establishment, given that all the worlds came from formerly close conservative allies.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum Has a Google Problem

The enemies of Sen. Rick Santorum have created a “Google bomb” so that when you Google the former Senator’s name, you come up with numerous sites that refer to him as the name of a homosexual sex act. A while back, Santorum offended a few folks by equating homosexuality with bestiality and other less savory activities and the homosexual community, led by sex columnist Dan Savage, stuck back.

But now Santorum is running for President and most voters in places like Iowa and New Hampshire have no idea who he is. So it might be nice for the Santorum campaign if people found web sites that were more, er, official.

How Much Did Arianna Huffington Make and Is It Fair Her Writers Made Nothing?

Reports on how much Arianna made on the sale of the Huffington Post range from $14 million to $100 million. And now some are grumbling that her writers have been unfairly cut out of the mix. Is this fair?

Look, as a writer and author, I’m all in favor of writers getting paid. But it’s not exactly like Arianna pulled some bait and switch. Bloggers at Huffpo were never promised money.
