Anaheim Schools Use GPS to Track Absentee Students

Well that’s one way for schools to receive communication from students, whether the students want to communicate or not. It will be fun to be a principal asking a student where he was yesterday, having the student say “I was home sick in bed,” and then having the principal whip open a computer screen hat clearly shows the student’s GPS location at the mall the day before.
How will the ACLU and other civil libertarians feel about this? At first blush, it does seem as though this is treating kids like convicted criminals and is, in a sense, forcing people to testify against themselves.
