National Enquirer enters Bankruptcy!

This will certainly bring joy to hounded celebrities everywhere. I wouldn’t want to be a sleazy tabloid these days–the print and legacy costs are consuming them. All traditional media are facing cannibalistic and audience share lost from digital media, but those who traffic in gossip are more at risk than others. Perezhilton.com, Necolebitchie.com, TMZ.com and other sites do a great job of providing celebrity news and gossip, and they are free, and they are bite-sized. Personally, I will look at all of those sites on an occasional basis and yet I never buy National Enquirers at the supermarket. Surely I can’t be the only one. The National Enquirer might be better off making Perez Hilton an offer he can’t refuse and then shutting down their traditional news room/staff and printing presses. More at the Wall Street Journal.
